My name is Claire Maisonneuve. I have always loved drawing, and as a child I dreamed of becoming an artist, but I chose to go into nursing, a career which I much enjoyed and found very satisfying. Now that I am retired, I have more time to dedicate to my love of art.
I have no formal education in art, but I took occasional workshops or short art courses whenever I could throughout my life. Lately “YouTube University” has been feeding my hunger for an art education. My favorite medium is oils, and one day I would like to try my hand at colored pencils and pastels. I love nature. I see a little bit of the Creator everywhere in nature. I marvel at the diversity, the beauty, the harmony, and the connection between everything in nature, as well as in the elements that support life on this earth, such as the sun and rain.
I find that even the destructive side of nature often brings forth new life. With my paints, I want to capture this beauty and harmony that I see all around me, to share with others the wonder and joy that I feel. I also like to capture the special moments in people’s lives, as well as the more mundane ones that are part of everyday life. My inspiration for this usually comes from my family members, but also friends and even strangers will inspire a future painting.
